چکیده
Design rules for web crippling of stainless steel tubular sections at elevated temperatures are currently unavailable. In this study, non-linear finite element models (FEMs) were developed the cold-formed lean duplex (CFLDSS) square and rectangular hollow under concentrated end bearing loads, namely loading conditions End-One-Flange (EOF), End-Two-Flange (ETF) End Loading (EL). After successful validation FEMs, an extensive parametric study 210 CFLDSS (up to 950 °C) was performed. The appropriateness design in current international specifications literature examined by comparing their ultimate strength predictions with those obtained from study. material properties room (ambient) temperature condition substituted temperatures. It found that generally unconservative not reliable, while European Code provided reliable but very conservative predictions. A new method using Direct Strength Method proposed EOF, ETF EL. assessments indicated reliable.

Microstructural Evolution of Roll Bonded Al-Clad Stainless Steel Sheets at Elevated Temperatures
The cold roll bonding of Al on AISI 304L stainless steel was carried out to fabricate the Al/304L/Al clad sheet composites. The maximum bond strength of 20 N/mm was acquired just by 38% reduction, for which the tearing of the aluminum sheet occurred during the peeling test. The microstructural evolution during subsequent postannealing heat treatment was systematically studied based on the impur...

متن کاملLocal Approach to Fracture of an Aged Duplex Stainless Steel
The local approach to fracture (LAF) is a methodology aimed to calculate macroscopic fracture properties of a body, from the knowledge of the local stress strain field at the fracture site, and the modeling of the acting fracture mechanisms. In the present work, this method was applied to a CF8M steel, aged 30000 h at 325 °C, in order to elucidate if LAF could be able to describe the measured f...
متن کاملDegree of Bending (DoB) in Tubular KT-Joints of Jacket Structures Subjected to Axial Loads
The fatigue life of tubular joints commonly found in offshore industry is not only dependent on the value of Hot-spot stress (HSS), but is also significantly influenced by the through-the-thickness stress distribution characterized by the degree of bending (DoB). The determination of DoB values in a tubular joint is essential for improving the accuracy of fatigue life estimation using the stres...
متن کاملBehavior of high strength structural steel at elevated temperatures
This paper presents the mechanical properties of high strength structural steel and mild structural steel at elevated temperatures. Mechanical properties of structural steel at elevated temperatures are important for fire resistant design of steel structures. However, current design standards for fire resistance of steel structures are mainly based on the investigation of hot-rolled carbon stee...
